Inteligencia artificial generativa en la profesión contable: oportunidades, riesgos y transformación del rol del contador en Latinoamérica

Resumen

La inteligencia artificial generativa (IAG), basada en modelos capaces de producir y transformar texto, código y otros contenidos, está ampliando el alcance de la digitalización contable sin equivaler a la automatización tradicional, la analítica, el machine learning o la automatización robótica de procesos. Este artículo analiza las oportunidades, riesgos y transformaciones profesionales asociadas con su incorporación en la profesión contable latinoamericana. Se realizó una revisión de literatura con búsqueda principal en Dimensions y verificación complementaria en plataformas editoriales y repositorios académicos, considerando publicaciones de 2020 a 2025 en español, inglés y portugués. Se incluyeron 24 estudios: seis con evidencia latinoamericana directa y dieciocho internacionales complementarios; solo una parte de la evidencia regional abordó específicamente ChatGPT o IAG. Los hallazgos muestran oportunidades en síntesis documental, elaboración preliminar de reportes, apoyo analítico, auditoría, gestión del conocimiento y aprendizaje, pero también riesgos de alucinaciones, desactualización, sesgo, opacidad, confidencialidad y sobredependencia. La evidencia sugiere transformación de tareas más que sustitución completa de la profesión, con mayor demanda de pensamiento crítico, juicio profesional, alfabetización en IA, ética y validación de resultados. En Latinoamérica, la evidencia empírica sigue siendo escasa y concentrada en pocos países, por lo que no es metodológicamente válido extrapolar resultados internacionales como si representaran la realidad regional.
