Barreras económicas y geográficas en el acceso a la educación superior: una revisión sistemática de la literatura

El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar sistemáticamente la producción científica reciente sobre las barreras económicas y geográficas en el acceso a la educación superior, identificando factores asociados, poblaciones afectadas, enfoques metodológicos y propuestas de intervención. Se desarrolló una revisión sistemática de literatura con enfoque cualitativo y síntesis temática. La selección documental quedó conformada por 10 estudios publicados entre 2021 y 2025, centrados en desigualdad socioeconómica, costos educativos, distancia territorial, ruralidad, financiamiento, deuda estudiantil, desiertos de educación superior y políticas de apoyo. Los resultados se organizaron en cuatro categorías: barreras económicas y financiamiento; distancia, ruralidad y disponibilidad institucional; desigualdad acumulada en poblaciones vulnerables; y políticas de equidad para acceso, permanencia y culminación. La evidencia muestra que la gratuidad, las becas o la expansión de cupos son insuficientes cuando no se acompañan de apoyos integrales para transporte, alojamiento, conectividad, orientación académica y sostenimiento de trayectorias. Asimismo, la distancia a las instituciones condiciona la elección, matrícula, permanencia y titulación, especialmente en estudiantes de bajos ingresos y zonas rurales. Se concluye que el acceso real a la educación superior requiere políticas multidimensionales que articulen financiamiento, territorio, acompañamiento institucional y justicia educativa.
